Bludso's Bar-&-Que Restaurant Review:
Owner-chef Kevin Bludso grew up in Texas and is the most recent member of his family to cook barbecue professionally --- it started with his great great grandfather. After opening his first restaurant in Compton, he acquired partners to launch an outpost on trendy La Brea Avenue, offering a short, hearty menu of classic ’cue along with a full bar. Choose from brisket, pulled pork, rib tips,...
"Rib aficionados" are "sold on" the "genuine" Texas barbecue at this low-cost Compton "hole-in-the-wall", where "down-home" flavors earn the "stamp of approval" despite a table-free, window-service setup; those who prefer the "comforts of La Brea" mosey to the offshoot, which comes "complete with mixologists" and plenty of seating.
The West Hollywood outpost of Compton's best BBQ joint still has that magic touch, only in swankier digs. Expect the same smokey and delicious ribs by executive pit master Keven Bludso, order it by the pound, and wash it down with the mint julep on tap. Seriously. BBQ and mint juleps. Can there be a more fitting description for happypants?
