The newspaper was founded November 23, 1926 by Nunn-Warren Publishing Company. The company was owned by John L. Nunn and David M. Warren, both of Amarillo, and later became Panhandle Publishing Company. Nunn and Warren owned the Borger newspaper until 1946 when it was sold to Roy R. Whittenburg.
