Here's my story.:
About a year ago my daughter started taking lessons here at Bright Valley Farms. I didn't know much about horses at the time and neither did she. She took lessons for about three months, and it was quite expensive for what you get, so I decided to look for another stable that was cheaper and maybe closer to home, as we were driving about a half an hour to get to Bright Valley Farms. Of course my daughter had fallen in love with her horse there, and never wanted to leave. She thought her "western lessons" at Bright Valley Farms were the greatest thing ever. I thought it was pretty good too; my daughter was happy, so therefore I was also happy. I had finally found a little show barn that was really close to home. I had to force my daughter to come with me and meet the trainer; she really didn't want to leave Bright Valley Farms. After meeting with a REAL trainer and watching a REAL lesson, I now see what a rip-off Bright Valley Farms was. The lessons at BVF were less than an hour, and the horses really didn't seem to know much or have much of a purpose. We paid $45 for a crummy 45 minute lesson with a nobody instructor with 7 other girls on horses that can't teach the kids anything, for 6 months, when we could have went to a nice little show barn about 5 minutes away from our house with a real trainer who shows horses and helps her students be able to show for a tiny fraction of the cost of BVF. My story is just to give some advice to people wanting to enroll their children in the lesson program at Bright Valley Farms. We spent too much money there and in return got absolutely nothing out of it. So just think again before you go to Bright Valley Farms.
I just want to add a little more about the facilities while I'm telling my story. First off, it's horribly dirty. Dirty on a scale of 1-10 would be an 11. Comparing to our new barn, my daughter's "Bright Valley Boots" actually got cleaner at our new barn, without cleaning them. The horses look half-dead and are also dirty. Their tack is not "proper"; different items are all mixed together and tack is not fitted or placed correctly. The saddles look over 80 years old, and not in the good, antique way, in a gross way. Most of the horses there aren't even being used. There are many many hazards there, and to name a few, broken pipes, electrice fence, snake holes, horses loose, mud holes, and trash all over the ground. Please just use caution when signing up for anything at Bright Valley Farms, and if you are an inexperienced Horse Mom like I was, make sure you talk to a couple different barns or an experienced "Horse Friend" before you start at ANY stable. Thank-you for reading this and hopefully my story gives some helpful advice to anyone thinking about taking lessons or going on a trail ride at Bright Valley Farms, or any ranch for that matter.
