DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Burnett Civil Contracting LLC has repeatedly failed to complete projects under its care. This company was awarded a federal grant for construction of a greenway zone and park in Trussville, Alabama. Yet over a year has passed without any sign of completion. This failure to complete its obligations has turned prized public parks into a unusable and dangerous eyesores for the citizens of the cities in which the projects are occurring. Issues include poor installation and maintenance of erosion control, leading to water quality degradation in the Cahaba River. Several open pits have been left with little protection from side collapse and poorly maintained access restriction. Very poor management of trees on the site has lead to major damage to mature oaks that the park is known for. Many of the trees show signs of mechanical damage from careless machine operation, disregard of proper root zone protection and decline from compaction of the soil. Building materials have been piled around the base of several trees. Several trees are either dying or dead from the damage incurred by Burnett, these dead trees now present a major fall danger to any public that uses the park in its current state. When asked about the delays, the answer offered by Burnett was "delay because of rain". This is NO excuse for over a years delay in project completion. The company now has less than 25 days to complete the project or face the legal consequences from the City of Trussville, its citizens, the Alabama Department of Transportation, and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
