Back in 2002, I pre-paid by check 3 months of web hosting services (over $400) which carried a 30 day money back guarantee. Since I was not happy with the performance of their web servers, I canceled the account on the 29th day by submitting an online form. I followed up with their sales office time after time to resolve the matter but they wouldn't budge on a refund nor did they properly cancel my account. Instead of canceling my account and refunding my money, they wanted to charge me for 1 full year. I said no way. Next, without authorization, they billed a credit card I had on file for a SEPARATE account in order to try to bully me into paying for a 1 year contract. Keep in mind I pre-paid by CHECK for 3 months so they didn't even have an authorized credit card on file for this particular account. I even hired an attorney who wrote a multi-page letter directly to the CEO Chris Faulkner in 2002. We never heard back from him or CI Host even though we explicitly stated for them to contact us by telephone to resolve the matter. The letter even had my cell phone number as a contact number. I never heard back from them so I considered the matter closed. Then out of nowhere I get a letter a few days back, May 2007, from Fidelity Credit Management collection agency saying I owe CI Host over $300 dollars. Can you believe the gall of a company to try to extort more money from a customer almost 5 years later when they didn't even refund the original money back in the first place. Now, I'm being threatened by collection agency that they will report me to the credit bureaus if I don't pay up. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from CI Host. There are complaints all over the Internet with similar accounts of CI Host not honoring the 30 day money back guarantee and faulty billing practices by them. A simple Google search revealed there are many others like me who are being ripped off by CI Host.
