The vet is a horrible failure. Period.:
This vet (Dr. Jerry Citek) doesn't deserve even a star, he deserves a cup of hot coffee thrown in his face. He doesn't care about animals, he want's your money. His receptionist who told me she graduated from CSULB clearly hates her job and mentioned to me as we were making small talk that she loathes working with animals.

This idiot (Citek) couldn't figure out over the course of four months that my dog had multiple tumors. I literally outlined on a typed piece of paper the progression of my dog's illness and symptoms so that this guy could give a proper diagnosis and suggestions for treatment, where I noted all medications my dog had taken over time, his eating habits, his daily routine, his pain, and all his symptoms. He started with some c@!p that my dog might have a thyroid problem.

After investing hundreds of dollars of my own money on useless antibiotics in an effort to help my dog (and I was a second year college student working for every last dollar, so that hurt), this idiot tells me he doesn't know what's wrong and wants to order more tests. Only a few days later I had to take my poor baby to be put to sleep. He had been suffering for months, and I couldn't stand to see him screaming in pain another night.

I took my puppy to a different private office to be put to sleep. The vet at this new office was IMMEDIATELY able to confirm that my dog had multiple tumors in his stomach and anal sacs and was very sore from the stupid fecal exams this dumb*ss Citek kept ordering, and that he was so bad off that he likely wouldn't wake up from a surgery at that stage. Had he been diagnosed months earlier, he might have lived. I also want to note that the staff at this second office was extremely helpful, nice, clearly devoted to animals, and even comforting. This happened one year ago.

The guilt of knowing that I could have tried a different vet earlier still kills me to this day. My poor baby dog.... Seriously, don't go to this office, and don't be fooled by the certificates in the lobby or his running mouth/ego. The Dr. knows NOTHING, and your pet will die under his care.

And on a side note, the Dr. Citek is curt, cynical, and rude to his own staff. Just think about what you want for your pet and yourself. This is just me sincerely reaching out to any animal lover reading.

Dont go here!:
Take your beloved pet elsewhere! Even the Better Business Bureau rates this place with a "D", stating that they caution you to do business with them.

Went here to take my mom's cat for follow up visit as he was healing from a bad abscess on his head. The vet and staff have unsanitary practices in that they handled my cat with no gloves and the facility itself is FILTHY (i.e. examination room smelled of urine and not once did I witness anyone clean or sanitize the examination tables before or after they were used). The way the staff treated my cat was unprofessional and I feel bad for having taken him there (i.e. used their feet to keep cat from leaving the weighing table). The worst was the Vet - Dr. Gerry, who showed no genuine sympathy for my cat's suffering. As I said, my cat was recovering from a bad abscess on his head. Took him twice because his wound was not healing and my cat was making a lot of noise like he was in pain, not eating, lethargic, etc. Dr. Gerry comes into the room with scissors in his hand and without explaining what he was gonna do, he just starts to slice at my cat's open sore, causing him to scream as he was already in a lot of pain. He first said that the cat felt NO PAIN when he did this, but quickly took back his statement when I voiced my opinion that he was clearly hurting my cat as what he did would hurt anyone!

Im also deeply concerned about the way they clean up after their animal patients. I saw blood gush out from my cat to spill onto the examination table and floor. In shock I saw the vet tech clean up the mess with the same towel he used on my cat for warm compression. No antibacterial or sanitizing spray was used. It worries me that another animal was seen right after and put on that same table because bacteria and infections are easily spread, potentially harming other animals.

Take your cat somewhere else. My mom learned this the hard way. She took her cat here because it was close to home and did not check reviews prior.

WAS Client For Years, No More! AVOID!:
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! Thanks to Above and Beyond and their lack of proper care, I now have a dead animal.

Dr. Citek has been my vet for about 10 years, and I always liked him. I'm a medical professional myself. I took my female chicken in for diagnosis and treatment for a straightforward oral fungal infection, which he confirmed. But they only gave me enough antifungal for THREE DAYS--it was working, but there was not enough of the medication by half (normal course of treatment is 7-14 days)! 'Bring her back in', they said. OK, I did (more money). MORE of the same medication, but this time they CUT the dose by THREE QUARTERS! This time it only lasted SIX days, and hardly helped at all--CLEARLY the dose was inadequate. I stopped in today, asking for a refill. They refused--'bring her in AGAIN.' More money! When I asked to speak to the doctor, I was lied to and told he was in surgery for the next 45 minutes (he walked through the room 10 minutes later, no clients were there for surgery, I'd already been waiting for more than an hour). Then I was told he wouldn't have time to talk to me THAT DAY. The entire day, really?!

I finally did get to speak to the doctor, who said he'd check and see if he couldn't get a refill to last two weeks (which should have been the initial treatment). He never returned.

Despite my telling the staff that I doubted my bird would survive the trip to their office, and that due to the TWO PREVIOUS trips there THAT WEEK, my funds were short, they refused to help me, even though I begged (in front of a roomful of people). The staff was cold, uncaring, dishonest and robotic. The doctor simply avoided the situation and never returned to finish his conversation with me, even though he continued to walk through the room several times. When I got home after a futile two hours there, my bird was dead.

Maybe in this economy this is how they make money--needless return visits more medication because of undermedicating? I spoke to two other people in the waiting room who were in the same situation--several return visits and medication that only lasted a few short days (3-5). Horrifyingly, irredeemably heartless. My animals' death was completely avoidable.
