Dr. Cohen and staff are super!:
I have been meaning to write this review forever, but I'm not sure even a five star rating can adequately convey how amazing these people are.
I first became acquainted with Newport Beach Vet Hospital and Dr. Cohen about 3 years ago, right after my ten year-old cat was diagnosed with diabetes. I was in a state of absolute despair - my previous vet, a very unsympathetic jerk, had told me that I should really consider having her put down because managing her illness was going to be too much of an inconvenience. I think his exact words were, "You won't be able to go to cocktail parties because you'll have to go home and give her insulin." What?? This couldn't be the right answer.
Anyway...I called the Newport Beach Veterinary and spoke with the front office staff, Kerry Anne. She was amazing. She assured me that my cat's condition *could* be managed with a little planning and commitment, and the possibility existed of a *remission* so she proceeded to, quite literally, begin me on the road to help me to save my cat's life. When I met with the expert Dr. Cohen, my cat was then *saved*!!!! Remission! No injections after only 3 weeks!
This place was always available for emergencies and boarding when I went out of town, and even though my cat was NOT an easy cat to deal with, they somehow managed to care for her and love her just as much as all the other cats. When it finally did come time to put her to sleep (at the ripe old age of seventeen), the compassion and caring they exhibited throughout the whole process made the difficult decision so much easier. Yes, I'm getting all weepy now, just remembering it.
The good part - I have a new cat now (friendly and non-diabetic) and they take just as good care of her. Every cent I spend with them is an investment in my cat's life and well worth it.
Great vet and great people to trust your pet with!
