Mike Acker is not so bright:
Booking my younger brother's band at Chop's Teen Club has always has been incredibly easy for me. Unlike Mike Acker I don't just use the internet to complain. Its also a powerful reference tool that can be used to find out many things i.e. what the requirements are when booking a band at Chop's Teen Center. In less than 10 minutes I was able to find out that ANYONE entering the building is required to show I.D., and no one over 20 is allowed in the building. Pretty reasonable criteria considering its a TEEN center. As for the staff they have always been incredibly helpful, every time I've called to book my brother's band I ALWAYS receive a call back within 24 hours. NEVER have I heard the staff there cursing, or saying any of the rude or derogatory things Mr. Acker has suggested.

My theory is that Mr Acker, in his haste to make his son famous and then to leech off his ensuing success, neglected to check out ANY of the rules before bringing in his son's band. It's CLEAR from his review that at NO POINT did he make ANY effort to inform himself of Chop's Teen Center's policies before showing up for the Band Night.

Next time I would recommend doing a little bit of research BEFORE you show up somewhere to do do a show, otherwise you are going to be facing a lot of issues and probably going to be incredibly frustrated.

I'm sure I would be frustrated and giving out undeserved negative reviews too if I was uneducated and too stupid to find out a building's policies before i booked a band there. I sincerely hope Mr. Acker learns how to master the internet for something other than writing unfairly negative reviews of non-profit organizations that support teens in his community.

Overall I would say that I have ALWAYS had a pleasant experience with Chop's Teen Center, my brother is a member and has always had positive experiences there, as have many other teens and I think that Mr. Acker's review is HIGHLY unfair and undeserved.

Chops Very Dissapointing:
Please be informed about the Chops staff and managers conduct during the Friday night ,four band shoe dated 7/11/08.

I am a single parent raising two son in a local band of five boys who scheduled to be on the list of four band performing last Friday night.

I have encouraged my sons in life , to be the best they can be at what ever they do, and to be honest and helpful to all .

My sons and their band practice weekly and always before a performance. we then as usual packed all the gear totaling some $15000.00 ..... a small fortune of quality American made Gibson guitars and alike professional instruments.

I personally was shocked stunned and amazed at the staff on hand that night including the manager.... as to no previous information that I.D,s needed to be checked for admittance and that I the bands manager of sorts was unable to watch their performance . From there it only got worse.

Apparently most of the teens where not admitted inside because of the lack of prior information with the need of I.D.,s

which caused a scene. no adults where allowed in and then at during the last bands performance all kids and adults outside where admitted in.

Stay with me it gets even worse

when it came time to pay the bands . the on shift manager stated that checks would be mailed .... again weeks if not months prior to the show no mention of any checks by mail.

after the manager contacted her boss by phone my sons and there band was told they had two options for payment

1.get paid now and never play at Chops again

2.be mailed a check and have an option to play at Chops again

After a night of complete miss handled staff , lights , sound managing and alike
The band chose option one and was told to ...UCK OFF as per her Boss

I am not sure what your involvement in Chops is . but it really seems that nobody is ion control of any Rules or regulation on bands ... playing ..... getting paid ... admittance or alike

My sons have played several times at chops and my oldest son has even work booking shows . He completed some 180 hours of community service only to see the current managers and staff botch a normal teen Friday night function

You should be ashamed at what ever is going on at Chops and know that a whole lot of teens and parents have no use for the current ways of conducting business

What a shame for all teens to have a wonderful venue and have it run by incompetent staff
Concerned parent of two sons and proud of five band members who performed in my absence

Check your staff Something is out of whack
