Tips

Southern soul with a fine dining pedigree; oysters three ways and chicken-fried quail are so good. Great bar snacks. Beautiful view of the Presidio. Opt for the tasting menu for the full experience, which includes a visit to the chef's counter in the kitchen for a course.

Dixie is the Southern region where Owner/Chef Joseph Humphries grew up. Now, the Michelin-starred chef is spreading that familiar Southern hospitality with San Franciscans in the Presidio. A Florida native with time spent in New Orleans and California, Dixie’s menu is a culmination of Chef Humphries’ life-long cooking ventures. Twists on Southern classics with a fine-dining refinement are present in dishes from start to finish. The Presidio's Dixie Has Called It Quits [UPDATED]:
Things were already looking pretty rough over at two-year-old Presidio Southern restaurant Dixie, which lost two of its partners, chef Joseph Humphrey and front-of-house manager Khalid Lahlou, last summer, as well as much of its kitchen staff, which walked with Humphrey. Managing partner Dean Tinney brought on chef Erik Hopfinger to help pull the restaurant back together, but it appears the...

Chef Shuffle Bonanza: Dixie, Epic Roasthouse, Press:
Apparently Indian summer is giving some local chefs cabin fever, because today brought not one, but a trio of shuffles. The most notable shift went down at Dixie, where Cavallo Point and Meadowood alum Joseph Humphrey has resigned not only as chef, but as a partner as well. Given that it was his passion project, apparently something pretty serious went down, as a chunk of the kitchen staff went...

Cholita Linda's Brick-and-Mortar; Dixie's Balcones Dinner:
TEMESCAL—The EBX has plenty of news on the new Temescal brick-and-mortar location of well-loved farmer's market vendor Cholita Linda. The 45-seat space will feature a range of Latin cuisine, from Peruvian roast chicken to Cuban sandwiches, as well as chef Vanessa Chavez' famed Baja-style fish tacos. The restaurant has been in the works for over a year (and had the added challenge of combining...
