Editorial Reviews

This two-story house museum makes the already worthwhile trip to Victor even better. Kids can learn how to pan for gold while adults get a glimpse at mountain mining life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. World traveler, author, journalist, and broadcaster Lowell Thomas left some of his estate to the museum, which is also on display inside the museum.

Try your hand at finding Cripple Creek turquoise, topaz and other gems as well as real gold. The museum hosts panning thru Labor Day and panning for real gold over Gold Rush Days the third weekend in July. This activity is made possible by a grant from the El Pomar Youth in Community Service grant. The cost is $1 over the price of museum admission.
