Description

This homey corner space has wooden floors, exposed brick, and distressed-wood shelves bearing provisions like Orwasher’s bread and Stumptown beans. Stock up on farm-raised meats, house charcuterie and domestic cheeses, or eat in at the 12-seat lunch counter in back. Daily grub offerings include a rotating selection of East and West Coast oysters, plus a menu of simple sandwiches and salads.

Editorial Reviews

There's "Wisconsin" in the air at Gabe Stulman's "hip" Village American, a tiny, "homey" thing where the "tasty" menu is as limited as the square footage; "divine oysters" and "attention to detail" offset the "not-Midwestern prices", though a few feel it's "more scene than place to eat."

Gabe Stulman names corner spot after his dad, kits it out with vintage finishes. Stumptown coffee and baked goods by day, bar scene by night. Take a break from your Tumblr responsibilities with luncheonette options like lobster rolls and poached salmon salads. Cheese, charcuterie, craft beers, and champagne at the rail. Raw bar, because of course there’s a raw bar.

Information from the business

Jeffrey's Grocery commands an upscale selection of fresh seafood from their industrial West Village location. A spartan decor of exposed brickwork, steel shelves and simple lighting fixtures plays host to a similarly slim menu featuring offerings from the raw bar as well as several contemporary entrees that still offer some savory substance. Most everything on the menu focuses on seafood,...
