Injured by unusually stiff dance shoe:
Went to jete' in January. Needed mens ballroom shoes. Only available brand is Bloch, Aussie brand i think?, ask chris the owner for a size 10.5 11, she brings me a 10, somehow she has determined i need a 10. I have to explain and show my orthotics which up the size. odd thing is she argued that i needed a smaller size, with complete confidence and attitude. 10 too small pinches my toes on the top, chris says that's ok it's leather they'll stretch. I say i've worn Ballroom shoes for decades and sold street shoes, the won't stretch enough. No she's noticably miffed, ms diva is not used to being argued with.. up the size, the bottom is a little stiff but the size works. I ask about the Jazz sneaks, she gets a pair from the back throws it down a bit abruptly and says "All we have is a 10", she no like me... too tight i say nevermind.
Try the shoes on and unlike 4 other brands, capezio, freeds of london etc etc, really stiff bottom, ok so i can't articulate my front of the foot, no prob maybe the bottoms will stretch and flex in a couple weeks. 3 weeks later at party with a new student (not mine) i zig one way she falls the other way, i grab the floor with my toes. my left big toe tries to flex, the shoe doesn't, mild sprain, painfull, limping and tender for 2.5 weeks.
Stop wearing the new shoes, wear the comfortable raggedy ones. couple weeks go by and i'm thinking, it will bother me if i don't try to return them. Bring capezios and new blochs back to chris, thump the bottom of capezions soft sound, thump blocks sounds hard, fold the toes of capezios, blochs won't fold. Policy is shoes soiled no return. I know that. So i say give me 40 bucks and throw the shoes away. i lose 40 chris loses $40 (ish) end of story. she won't budge.
I say you're the owner? yes. but if i do it for you i have to do it for everybody. 15 minutes of looking me up on the computer she offers a $40 store credit. and will order capezios. When i first came in (january) i said i've had bad luck ordering the correct shoe. the same shoe can be made at 2 different factories and fit once but not twice. I said i want to be done with this. Fake smile, fake i'm sorry. I don't want any further business with her so i won't take store credit. so i say watch your website and left.
I've run 3 businesses, with rare exception, it's best to always leave things on a good note, customer service, above and beyond. etc.
The shoes injured my feet, i gave them a fair chance to break in. Did not like her overall customer service.
Your mileage may vary.
btw (10 10.5, some details my not be exact, but the jist is spot on)
