Outstanding Shop:
This review is coming late, but better late than never I say! In August my 2001 VW Beetle broke down, and being fairly new to the city, I wasn't sure where to take it. L&M happened to be the closest foreign car auto body shop to where I live, but it also turned out to be the best. After checking out the car, they told me it needed some pretty pricey repairs--my first thought was, am I being taken advantage of since I'm a young woman and don't know a thing about cars? It's a horror story you often hear when it comes to mechanics and body shops. But I happened to have some connections with the VW dealership in Chicago where I used to live. I ran the pricing by them at their body shop and it turned out it was all standard pricing--it was just that what I needed fixed was incredibly labor intensive and the parts were expensive. I am glad that I checked, but I am even more pleased with the fact that the mechanics at L&M are honest and hard working. In the end, they even did a few small services that they didn't even charge me for, going above and beyond for a clueless city girl. Now the car runs like a dream, and I've been informed that I have a year warranty: basically if I have any trouble with what they fixed, I can bring it into the shop free of charge. I will definitely be returning to L&M!

Consumer Beware:
I needed to see if my fog lights were damaged. I hit some snow and after doing so I saw a wire hanging and my fog lights weren't working. I thought the wire had something to do with my fog lights. After giving them 200.00, I later found out that the wire that was hanging was the wire to the ambient temp sensor, which I had replaced for free by a reputable shop. The wire had nothing to do with my foglights and they replaced the lights without telling me what the problem was. It wasn't until I looked at the bill that I realized they charged me 191.00 for 2 lightbulbs.... NO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, NO MECHANICAL ISSUE, 200.00 and the SHAFT. THE SOB's charged literally 55.00 - 65.00 per lightbulb
4. Specifically, what went wrong with the service? I was charged 191.00 for a diagnostic and two light bulbs changed., which I didn't authorize
I took my car to L & M Foreign Cars, In Brooklyn NY. I will give them a bad review every chance I get on any forum, discussion board...for as long as the World wide Web exist. On top of everything else, this a*&$#@ calls me and has the balls to ask me why I wrote a bad review. Couldn't I have tried to work it out with them? They were the ones that charged me 191.00 for 2 light bulbs and he asked me why I wrote a bad review???? Even after that guy called me, he didn't try to refund my money or ask me if there was something that could be done.
So, because they didn't remedy the situation in any kind of way and made me feel like I got shafted, which I did and then tried to make it seem like them shafting me was my fault, I decided the best way to remedy this is to let everyone and their mother know what they did to me. PERIOD.
DON"T TAKE YOUR CAR TO L & M FOREIGN CARS LOCATED @
1331 Utica Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11203-5911

At some point when i have soem free time on my hands I will stand on Utica Ave with a sign and flyers letting everyone know what they did, and not to take their cars there.
