Ended up with Large Unexpected Bill!!!:
I recently had a cyst removed by Dr. Morgan and though I can't complain about the surgery one way or another, besides they missed some stitches when they were suppose to take them out. I did have a major issue with the bill and how it was handled!!
After being referred there by my regular physician my neck was examined and an office procedure was recommended. I was told that it would be a $30 co pay unless it went over $500 (which it was not expected to). When speaking to the finance person in Dr. Morgans office I was repeatedly assured the cost estimate was accurate and I didn't need to worry about calling the insurance company and confirming again (something I always do). The bill came in and it turns out the the finance person and misunderstood the benefits and I had to pay the full cost of the surgery and lab work - quite different from the $30 I had signed up for.
When I inquired about the discrepancy I was told they only check our insurance as a courtesy. But in my case this courtesy they afforded me was the only reason I elected to have this procedure. If the office wouldn't have misinformed me I wouldn't have had it and they would have lost a patient. The lack of taking responsibility for one's actions and mistakes when they fully admitted them was very frustrating and disappointing. I hope Dr. Morgan doesn't take the same approach when their is a medical mistake.
I asked them to put the cyst back in my neck and give me a refund but they turned that down as well :)
If everything is the same I would strongly recommend using a different dermatologist with a more transparent and responsible office or you could end up with a very large bill as well.
