Terrible company!:
I will start from the beginning….My daughter, Nevaeh, was 2 years old at the time we decided to look into modeling. Her daddy found Model Scout Inc. online and decided to send in her pictures. They contacted us back saying they REALLY wanted to work with her. We set up our initial meeting in early March 2016.
Our first concern was her age, so we repeatedly asked if they dealt with young children. They told us yes and that their photographer, Rick, worked with children all the time. We were told that once we paid the $670 payment that they schedule a day to take pictures. They said they schedule the children at the same time and after “hair and makeup” they ALL go out to a small garden-like area and the photographer will capture them doing what they do best, BEING CHILDREN!
Well, we paid them and scheduled her first photo shoot for later that same month. We get to Model Scout and it’s COMPLETELY different from what we were expecting. We were the ONLY person there with a child that will be modeling. We wait TWO HOURS before we get to “hair and makeup” and by that time my TWO YEAR OLD daughter is getting tired and restless. The photographer even told us that the manager’s daughter (a teenager getting ready for prom) was to go ahead of us because “that’s good business.” The “hair and makeup” session consisted of lip gloss and blush and “fluffing” of her hair (which had already been done by me that morning).
We FINALLY are told to meet the photographer in the garden area, three hours after we arrived. By this time my daughter is so tired and ready for a nap she did not want to cooperate. So we are told by Rick (the photographer) that he makes frequent trips from Atlanta to Orlando and he would be willing to meet us in Gainesville. He scheduled a day with us for about 3 or 4 weeks later.
Rick calls us to reschedule about a WEEK before our scheduled date due to “illness.” And after multiple phone calls and no one returning our calls, we are getting frustrated. We asked for our money back at this point but were told they couldn't refund without talking to the owner. So we wait a couple days to see if he will call, he never did. So we call back AGAIN to request a refund and expressed our concern with the lack of response from them. This time the manager was trying to be helpful. She said they could refund all but $75 and talked us into waiting for Rick’s rescheduled day. I told her that he was supposed to meet us in Gainesville and she tells us he is not supposed to do that. This is not our fault that their photographer was not following protocol. This is our first time using a modeling agency and didn’t know what to expect.
By this time it’s May 2016 and we STILL have not got a refund or even a photo out of this. We scheduled another day with Rick for him to meet us in Gainesville. He calls us again about a week and a half before the scheduled date to tell us he had to cancel for the weekend coming up. We tell him it was scheduled for the following weekend and that we would have never scheduled that current weekend because we were throwing a birthday party for our daughter and had family coming in from Alabama. So we reschedule for June.
Finally June rolls around and Rick FINALLY showed up for the scheduled meeting. Of course it starts raining (summer in Florida) and we had to move indoors for the photos. After about an hour and a half of trying to get a decent photo, we decided to call it a day as she was getting frustrated (again she is THREE YEARS OLD by this time so it’s understandable). Rick tells us he thinks he got some good pictures and will have Model Scout review the photos and they will contact us.
Two weeks later we still haven’t heard anything so we decide to call them. Again we had to play phone tag with the manager but we eventually got ahold of her. She tells us she just received the pictures a couple days prior and it will be another WEEK before we will get our comp card or even get to see the pictures.
A week goes by and we FINALLY get the email of the comp card and other pictures. AND THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!! One of them makes my THREE YEAR OLD look like she just took a mug shot!! None of the other pictures were even remotely decent or model worthy. So we call them back and at this point we are firm on a refund. Again we are told that the manager had to get approval from the owner and that she will call us back. Three days later she calls us back to tell us that they have already paid the photographer so we will only be getting $370 out of our $670 back! After all the stress and issues we had we just wanted to give up. So we wait another 2 weeks before we get the check in the mail. And the check was only for $270! We call them back immediately thinking it was an honest mistake. But it wasn’t…..now they said they kept the $100 because they have already printed the comp cards! Which we STILL have not received, it’s now almost September 2016!
At this point I just want the rest of my money back ($400) because we have NOTHING to show for all the wasted time and energy we put into this company.
I’m only writing this to inform parents to KEEP YOUR CHILDREN AND MONEY AWAY FROM MODEL SCOUT INC. in ORLANDO, FLORIDA!
On the plus side we did find another modeling agency, Nine9 in Miami, which we did NOT have to put a ton of money down just to take pictures. We get her scheduled and take her to the photo shoot and within MINUTES we have AMAZING pictures for their website. Within a couple of days we were getting emails from them for photo shoots that were relevant to her age and look. All of them paid daily and with paid travel expenses. We get at least one email a day from them.
