The Extras: True to its Windy City roots, this deli serves hot dogs sans the ketchup (but with plenty of mustard and other dressings). Customers can order with ketchup if they prefer their dog that way.

Only place in SF you can find matzo ball soup like Bubbelah used to make. Crunchy, salty dills, chopped liver, hot brisket on Friday, latkes and applesauce, and hot pastrami on rye done up Chicago-style, plus classic cranky geezer behind the counter not taking any s@!t from you punks. Enough to make a Catholic girl convert. FYI, pippic is Yiddish for belly button, but you already knew that.
