We rented from Jeff Parent the owner of new england equities for just over a year and he was a terrible land lord. While we were living there our apartment was broken into and the front door was broken. We told him the door was not secure and he never came to fix it or do anything about it. We had to nail a piece of wood over the broken glass to secure it and even then it wasn't fully secure. Almost 2 months after the break in he came and replaced the door (after giving us the run around the entire time). It shouldn't take a landlord almost 2 months to do anything about a broken unsecured door. We gave him our 30 day notice on June 31st for us to move out August 1st. We over paid him a month and a half of rent due to paying him weekly directly out of our bank account and it was hell trying to retrieve that and our security deposit. I had to fight the payments at the bank to be able to get my money back. And then he had by August 31st to get us back our security deposit. August 8th he said he was going to look at the apartment and would let us know that weekend what was going on with it. We contacted him numerous times and were ignored. He finally contacted us August 30th saying hes sending out the security deposit. When we received it September 7th, it was missing almost $400. He held our money to make us pay for the door. I do not recommend renting from this shady man.
