Pacific Midwifery, Menopause & Women's Health is a small women's healthcare practice, owned and operated with 4 Certified Nurse Midwives/ Nurse Paractitioners. We deliver babies (and 'do' waterbirths) at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. In the office, we provide full prenatal and postpartum care, all kinds of birth control and Kathleen is a Menopause Clinician, well versed in using bio-identicals hormones and herbs. I used Pacific Midwifery as my pre-natal and post-natal care. They were FANTASTIC! I did not have ANY of the experiences that the negative posters had. They were warm & friendly. Answered all of my questions & when I had some pretty bizarre questions they did extensive research and got back to me with the answers.
I opted not to have the glucose test and they never made me feel uncomfortable about that choice, we just found an option that worked for me.
Now for the main event... the birth! We had been planning to have a water birth. I had been in contact with the on call midwife over night (Janelle) and she knew I wanted to labor at home for as long as possible, so she walked me through everything and told me I could come in whenever I felt ready. By the time I got to the hospital my water was still intact & I had been laboring for 31 hours. When I got in they found that I had pre-eclampsia (which I did not have when I was in the previous week) Even though Janelle's shift was over she stayed with me for several hours to make sure I was doing ok with the fact that I was not going to be able to have the water birth I wanted.
Due to the diagnosis they brought in an OB hospitalist to oversee my care. The midwives fought for me to have a natural birth and were able to get it so I did not have to have a c-section. They worked closely with the OB all day and actually resumed my care. I was able to deliver that night and had all three midwives over the course of the day.
They all came to check on me over the next few days that I was in the hospital due to my BP (which is not something that MW are able to treat) Donna who was there during my labor but not while I delivered came in on her day off to check on me!

I delivered with Patti and it was great! She was gentle, she never pushed for anything she knew I was uncomfortable with & she let my body do the work. I had my 9 year old sister there who was asking a million questions and she was incredibly patient and answered every single one of them!

If we choose to have another child we will be going to Pacific Midwifery without a doubt! I recommend them to every pregnant woman I meet!
