Tips

Where to Sit:
The stools at the bar are bolted very close together--40s lunch counter style--so broader types might prefer the communal table.

What to Drink:
The coffee comes from very exclusive roasters (El Salvador?s Finca Kilimanjaro) and is made with a coffee nerd machine called an Uber Boiler, if that's your thing. But we like the spiked milkshakes--great way to feel like a fat kid and an old drunk at the same time.

Bar Primi, the New Casual Pasta Hot Spot on the Bowery:
Take a look around Bar Primi, the new casual pasta restaurant from Andrew Carmellini, Luke Ostrom, and Josh Pickard. The Noho Power Trio have given the former Peels space a quick revamp, replacing the coffee bar with a banquette and adding a big communal table up front. Sal Lamboglia, who's helped open all of Carmellini's restaurants, is now at the helm in the kitchen, turning out a menu of...

Now diners can get fresh juice and house-made sodas in the front, and coffee, pastries, and cocktails at the bar next...

Staked somewhere "between retro and the new hip", this East Village duplex from the "creators of Freemans" caters to the "discerning nosher" with "well-executed" takes on Southern-style American "comfort" classics; the "warm", whitewashed space hosts a "fantastic", "buttery" brunch – "if you can get in."

From the man who brought you Freemans and the Rusty Knot comes this upstart champion of New York dining, with locals waiting in preposterously long lines to get into Peels' boisterous brunch service. It's every bit the sort of dining you look for when eating out in Manhattan, and to ameliorate the wait, there are two bars where patrons can work up an appetite (or a buzz). Lunch goes all day at...
