Don't be fooled by the other company written online reviews!!!:
If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I was basically misled by this company from the beginning. I picked up a free in home water test from Home Depot and mailed it off in the pre-paid envelop. Results were supposed to come back in a week so after 4 week or so of waiting I called Home Depot to get the water testing company's info. Since they "could not find" my sample, the company stated that someone would come to my house to test the water for free and that I would receive results on the spot. At no point in time was I told that this would involve a 2-3 hour sales demonstration; not even the Saturday morning of the appointment. This is totally unacceptable! I still had on my pajamas so luckily the representative was female and not male. I did not even know that this appointment would be related to any products/services aside from the "free" water test . . Essentially this product appears to be a water filter and softener and at no point in the presentation was this conveyed in lay men's terms. I did not even know there was a difference between Rain Soft and Pure Water until the representative handed me her card as she was leaving. I'm not sure why the representative kept stating the part about being in business for almost 60 years when Pure Water has only been in business since the 1990s.The fact that within a matter of seconds the discussion went from the water system to Pure cleaning products made me even more annoyed The representative could not answer my questions about how the mechanics of the Rain Soft system works and how installation works. In my opinion this is the equivalent of a car salesman telling me all the benefits of buying a new car but not being able to tell me anything about the engine, tires, cylinder etc. It makes no sense for me to buy something that the person selling it does not know the ins/outs of. This circumstance led me to believe 1 of 2 things:

a. the representative does not currently use any of the products in her home (which makes me doubtful of the product because why would I buy something the salesperson does not use)

b. the representative was lying when she stated she has the product in her home (which makes me doubtful of the company's integrity/means personnel will do or so anything to make a sale).

After the representative (finally ) left I did some research online. Most of the reviews cited sneaky sales practices, poor customer service, and sub par workmanship. Based on my personal experience with the company the day of the appointment, I have no reason to believe the reviews are wrong. Summary of the some of the reviews/complaints I read on line:

Reviews stated there is a special wrench that has to be purchased (separately) to change filters and that filters are expensive. This was never mentioned to me during the in home presentation. The only thing I was told is that this is something I would be able to do myself.

I was not told there is a 3 day cancellation associated with the purchase. I was only told about next day installation and warranty and never about this policy. Even worse, some commenters stated that when they immediately reported problems with the system, representatives would purposefully wait until after the 3rd day to call them back (thus leaving them stuck with the system).

Customers noted that it takes weeks for the product to actually start working. There were many instances of water leaks, water damage, system under performance, increased utility bills, and reduction in water quality after installation. Reviewers stated that it often took weeks/months to get in touch with their local distributors to address the issues (if at all) and primarily callers just get the run around.

Reviewers stated that maintenance visits/response calls often resulted in up selling additional products/services. In addition, identified problems with the system actually resulted in additional costs to the customer to resolve.

Some customers cited instances where the local distributor/company threatened them with lawsuits in response of their request to return the system/no longer be a customer. It was also stated that the "catch" to getting the 5 years of products is that you have to submit the contact info of family and friends

Customers cited poor contract terms/financing terms. However, I must say that any customer who does not understand that paying $30-$70/month (for example) to finance $6500-7500 at any interest rate of 9-17% would result in a minimum 10 year payoff period only have themselves to blame.

I understand that sales is a business but part of being an effective salesperson is knowing the ins/outs of the product and providing full disclosure so that the customer makes an informed decision (versus one that he/she regrets). It did not take me long to conclude that the drawn out presentation I received is basically a canned version that you guys use for all of your customers. In addition, how can one expect for customers to take the business/product seriously when the company does not even seem to do so. The (Home Depot) presentation materials the representative briefed were dated 2011 and it is almost 2014. There were several instances where the representative tried to overwhelm me with figures and I had to correct her calculations. The business cards appear to be of low quality and there is not even a website for the local company. I am sure I am not the only customer with allergy problems so the strong scent of tabacco and perfume made the whole ordeal uncomfortable for me. At one point the representative essentially asked me why I don't have children which was inappropriate in my opinion. What if I recently suffered a miscarriage? What if in the past I gave birth to a stillborn baby? What if I am not capable of having children? I have never been one to tolerate pressure tactics and like to think through my decisions. Therefore I was annoyed when the sales person made a statement along the lines of "you know you want to buy this product." If I wanted to buy the product I would have brought it on the spot. I am by no means saying that the products does not have its' benefits. I am only saying that the sales techniques/approach coupled with the bad reviews was the basis for me no longer being interested in this product/company. In my opinion the benefits will not outweigh the (tangible and intangible ) costs. The fact that Home Depot actually considers a company like this a partner/preferred vendor has prompted me to only shop at Lowes.
