All Around Awful:
Well ... it left a lot to be desired. I arrived with a date at 7pm, both of our first times at Shakago. Seated in the front by the windows it was rather cold, and at one point the fans were turned on making it unbelieveably cold for a restaurant. We started with a Martini each while we were looking at the food menu. Our drinks were gone and 45 minutes to an hour had passed before anyone came around to take our dinner order. Water's were not provided for either of us. We decided on the bruschetta appetizer and an ahi tuna salad and the steak salad. What was served as the "bruschetta appetizer" was absolutely embarassing. The "ripe plum tomatoes, herbs, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil served with toasted bread" was nothing more than pantini bread crusts served with a bruschetta topping from a jar. As a restaurant with an Italian feel to the menu, they should be ashamed of themsevesf for the lack of pride and care you put into a generally easy to make appetizer. No fresh Italian bread? No fresh tomato? No freshly chopped basil? Why not? The salads we had for dinner were average at best. For the price, they were very small and my medium-well steak was medium-rare at best. It was another 30 minutes after we ate before anyone came around to check on us. My date suggested we just leave after poor service, poor food, and inattentiveness to your customer's overall dining experience. However we waited. Once the bill came it was very difficult to want to pay $75 for what was provided to us. And on top of that eventually I had to bring the bill to the bar to pay as it appeared our server had again forgotten about it. And lastly ... a piano bar ... live music ... really? There was no piano being played and the live music was a DJ playing 80s music and top 40 hip hop songs. What a shame, since the idea of a nice dinner date at a "PIANO BAR" was what we had in mind!!
