This made me cry:
At 12:00 p.m. today I decided I would have lunch at Southern Paradise at the corner of Forsyth and Julia, downtown Jacksonville. As I was walking to the counter, I noticed this gentle old African American lady in a wheel chair. I ordered an odd meal, thinking it was due to my pregnancy. I craved the chicken tenders, with taters and gravy and corn. I patiently waited while my order was being prepared, but my attention was drawn back to the Lil old lady in the wheel chair who (after being looked over by the staff for about 5 minutes) was just being attended to. The waitress, who happened to be Caucasian, was upset with the customer for some reason. The waitress walked away, returned with a menu, slammed it on the table and walked away yelling "Why me, I don't feel like dealing with this today." I was shocked, but you know how we are now-a-days "it's none of my business." As I sat, I noticed the manager standing in front of the lady, flirting with two younger customers. Still, it's none of my business. I sat for about 10 more minutes and my food was brought to me. I just couldn't take my eyes off the lady. I wondered, is she a regular, is she homeless, is she a scammer? Never the less, the lady backed up from the table and rode out of the restaurant in a hurry. I figure she was gone. Well to my surprise she was outside, just far enough from the windows, I imagined so no one could see. She was crying!!!!! She used her left arm to wipe her tears and her nose with a napkin she had. I must admit, even knowing what she had just gone through, I started to keep walking. The God in me, the love in my heart, and the fact it could have been me, made me stop. I asked her if she was okay. She stated that she wanted to order, but she couldn't read. The tears flowed even harder. I asked her was she still hungry and she said yes. I tried to comfort her with God will never leave you, nor forsake you (in my own words). "He will always be there for you, He loves you, He will always make a way for you, Stay encouraged." I knew she did not want to go back in the store, so I told her she could have my food. Unfortunately she can't eat fried food, but I gave her everything else in the plate, put the tenders in the bag and went back into the restaurant. I tried to speak with the manager regarding his employee's behavior and he (as I figured) sided with the employee. I told him that could have been my mother. He was unmoved. I asked was she a regular, he said no. I asked was she a problem, he said no. I advised him that if this is how you handle your customers (Southern Paradise), I will never eat here again and take the food/soda back. I WILL cancel the charge and I am overwhelmed to know that my little side items became someone's meal. It is my plea that everyone who reads this email will forward and boycott Southern Paradise located on the corner of Forsyth and Julia. Now, we send plenty of foolish jokes and clips, but I expect that this has touched the center of your heart and you will forward to everyone you know. ESPECIALLY IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA!!!!!!!
