"If you can't get to Greece", this "well-established", "family-oriented" Astoria taverna provides an "authentic" alternative with its "reliable" Hellenic cooking; "stark" decor and somewhat "indifferent" service are less transporting, but "reasonable prices" take the edge off.
The Original Stamatis Restaurant Review:
This Astoria mainstay serves up good Greek fare---and lots of it---at way beyond reasonable prices. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, and you won’t be rushed as you indulge in the complimentary grilled bread while you decide between seafood and skewers, moussaka and spanakopita. Also located at 31-14 Broadway, Astoria, 718-204-8964.
Editorial Review:
Classic Greek restaurant in Astoria serves grilled meat and seafood dishes in a coastal-themed setting.
