For repair? I don't think so Nor would I trust him again:
OK, I have purchased components from John at The Audio Connection in past years. That was OK - if not a bit over the top with audio snake oil -but iI ignored that stuff.
When It came time to replace my Phono Cartridge I planned on doing it myself but realizing the importance of experience when adjusting a cartridge and the trade tools necessary to do a professional job I decided to take it in to John. I left it with him in the morning and picked it up late that day. He mentioned the belt was bad and suggested a source in town for a replacement. Great - got the belt. Took the table home, hooked it up and prepared myself for wonderful sound. Lifted the tone arm and... WHA THE...!
The Cartridge head was loose. How is this possible? How do you fine tune a piece of equipment like that and leave it loose?! We are talking fine adjustments in 3 dimensions all interdependent! OK stuff happens - I'll just have to take it back - so I called John. Get this - he tells me oh ya the screw is stripped! You must be kidding me. Then he suggests I just put epoxy on it after aligning the cartridge myself with a mirror.
LAME LAME LAME!
Never again!
