Since 2011, U S A Transmission has been providing Automotive Transmission Repair Shops from Royal Oak.

I took my vehicle to the Royal Oak location for a diagnostic and possible repair for a transmission on a 2000 Ford truck. Initially this seemed like a nice customer friendly and professional establishment especially after speaking to the aged owner known as "Bob", who seemed so eager and willing to have new customer associations. So after the okay was given to move forward on my vehicle i was called and told that the transmission had several problems resulting in failure and the price for the diagnosis is $395 USD (wow). This might be something the customer should know in advance. Now since the task was already performed i had the choice of paying the fee and not having the work done or having the fee taken from total cost of repair. Naturally no one would throw away almost $400 so i elected to use it as surplus money towards repair, i'm already trapped. So now, the price to repair my vehicle is $2550 USD (rebuild) or $1725 USD. (used install). My truck is 2000 model with 200k plus miles so i elected the latter but make no mistake my truck is is pristine condition. So I agreed to allow work to proceed then a few days went buy..then a few more..approximately 5 with no communication from the establishment so i called and was told they ran into a problem and was waiting for part but should be done soon hopefully. Days more went buy and still not one communication ever except when i called to check status and i was told they were experiencing an electrical problem with my vehicle which i never had in 17 yrs but..ok? Days of more time elapsed when i called on a Saturday frustrated and asking for a timeline as to when repair would be done. Some guy named Mike said the other Mike was not there today and suggest I call on Monday to check status (week 2 just to install a used trans). So i call on Monday and the Trans still needs to be installed and test driven to check for leaks or whatever the hell else after 2 plus weeks so i give them yet more time. Finally i call the next day and miraculously the vehicle is done and ready for pick up (shaking my head). After already having price agreement i'm now told the price has increased by $100 USD at time of pick up (wow). Finally after getting the car back the first thing i noticed was the grease all over driver side interior door.. then the next thing I noticed was my rear view mirror on the rear floor? Then i noticed my over drive indicator light blinking and the over drive itself not functioning after working well for 17 yrs? Next I noticed my fuse panel box had been accessed and not properly reinstalled? after all of this ,while the transmission does drive, it jerks violently in and out of all gears :( even after the so called test drive they performed. So I go to check the fluid level of the transmission and not only is it overfull but noticeable changes the my engine arrangement are seen and my vehicle trembles roughly in Idle now. In closing I would never take my vehicle back to this est. for reasons you can decipher from my text. Secondly I would forewarn anyone from going here. I will not even return for things covered under warranty in fear of the outcome. Bad business can disguise itself in many ways in any location. Hollywood or Royal Oak a rip off is a rip off no matter where you go!!!! So play at your own risk when dealing with these commercial pirates and to US Transmissions I want to say "F@!k You very much".. for everything"

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!!!!!! I took my car here for them to fix a problem with my transmission. Now, going into this whole ordeal, I ALREADY KNEW what the problem was because it's a common issue with my make/model of car. I simply wanted them to take the old part off; install the new part (which is on the OUTSIDE of the transmission) and be done with it. Here's where it gets shady... They called me and told me that they needed to pull the whole transmission out of my car and take it apart to see what is wrong with it for somewhere around the cool price of $400.00 . I informed them, again, that I already knew what the problem was and I just needed them to order the part from the dealer and install it. They insisted I let them take the trans out and break it down. I insisted that was unnecessary and wouldn't fix my issue. They again insisted I pay $400.00. I stated my knowledge of the issue at hand and told them not to touch my vehicle again and I would be by shortly to pick it up. As a feeble attempt at scaring me into honoring their way of things... they got rude and testy with me before getting off the phone... defeated. I called the dealer and gave them the same info and asked them an estimate of labor/parts: PART : $46.48 LABOR: $107.00 .... You do the math! The dealer also found something wrong with my car that was covered under warranty, and fixed a brake light switch. You would think going to the dealer would cost you your first born and rations for the year (which is why I didn't call them first) turns out... After fixing everything that was wrong; my complete invoice at the dealership was $206.53... from the dealer... in & out in a couple hours. DONE.

I took my car here for a leaky axle seal.(leaving spots on my driveway) They changed the seal, but said it needed the axle replaced also. $500 later, I was back on the road. A week later I had my car in for an oil change at a friend's shop and I told the mechanic to take note of my new axle. He said the axles were old, original pieces. I told him I just paid $500 for a new axle on the right side and he said I had been ripped off. I went back to USA Transmission and confronted them on this. They denied not replacing it. When I asked them to put it on the hoist and show me, they refused and told me to talk to the owner who runs their Madison Heights location. After much difficulty of arranging an appointment in this filthy, run-down establishment (I didn't even want to sit down because there was grease everywhere), the owner tried to sell me a story of remanufactured parts looking old and that I was confused. I told him to put it up on their hoist and show me. Hours of waiting later he said they looked and it appeared to not have been replaced. But he went on to say the seal's replacement in labor alone easily justified the bill. It was only when I stood up and said "I'll see you in court." did the owner show any fear. He promptly refunded my money (as per my request) and asked that this misunderstanding not influence my doing business with their stores in the future. Holy cow... are you kidding me? BUYER/CUSTOMER BEWARE! THIS IS A VERY, VERY SHADY OPERATION.
