Quality is past:
After living in east county for 35 years, Whites has always been my go-to meat store.
However, about 4 or 5 years ago I noticed the quality start to drop, getting worse with each passing year.
Their beef used to be choice or better. Now it's barely select grade. Their pork and chicken comes from the very same places Walmart, Winco, and Safeway get theirs (I asked). The difference? They lay it out in their fancy cooler, and of course charge much more. When it comes to the ground meats, like hamburger, sausage, etc.? There's now a good chance you'll encounter something crunchy. (gristle or bone pieces) That was never the case, and I actually stopped buying it because it continued to show up even after complaining. Even their famous beef sticks have fallen into the gross zone. Squeeze them and you'll pop the grease from the end. (also never the case before)
One last note. White's own website backs up my claim! You won't find a review newer than 2017 or lower than 4 stars. I left one much like this and they didn't post it. And I'm sure mine was one of MANY critical reviews swept under the rug.
AVOID this company. (You're better off with Gardners or one of the smaller butchers on Sandy Blvd.)
