Wise, Sr. started Wise El Santo in 1892. Sensing an opportunity, Rudolph L. Wise Jr. began selling gloves to the large industrial plants in the St. Louis area. In the 1970s, the company focused on selling a growing selection of gloves and safety equipment around the world. In the 1980s, he began bringing complimentary quality safety companies into the Wise El Santo organization. Mr. Wise was a pioneer in the industry whose unrelenting leadership, passion for selling and attention to quality took a small company selling gloves door-to-door into a national firm.
