Wonderfully Professional Vet and Boarding Experience!:
Wonderful vet and boarding facility!! I have an English Bulldog with very sensitive needs and she felt right at home at Bay Street. It was clear to me that she could sense the good vibes as she wasn't at all apprehensive or skittish as she has been other places. I took Bella in for a basic exam as well as boarding - both of which experiences were 5 star! Although not overly bubbly (which I could care less about), Dr. Cavallaro was incredibly thorough and professional. I felt very comfortable with how she examined and discussed Bella's needs. You could tell that she really had my dog's best interest at heart and also came across as somewhat of a perfectionist (cleaning Bella's ears & nails right there). Loved it. Also, the reception/boarding/vet techs seemed to really give personal attention to the dogs which calmed my nerves a lot knowing that Bella would get plenty of loving. I don't trust the doggie daycare boarding places... too many dogs & not enough supervision. I prefer that she is kept in a secure professionally monitored facility (someone is there 24hrs).. with plenty of attention/care - and that's just what I got! I called to check on her and they knew exactly who she was and when I picked her up she was so fresh - I had forgotten that they give dogs a complimentary bath. Seriously, she looked healthier than when I dropped her off - not even sure how that was possible, ha. Thank you!! Highly recommended :)

Bay St. Animal Hospital turned us away..left my dog to die..:
A letter to Bay Street Animal Hospital in Staten Island and the NYC ASPCA: I see a lot of posts of compassion here by the doctors, but I have a story that doesn't comply with any on here. On Dec 26th my Pomeranian Charley 6 years old could not urinate. We took him to Bay street hospital (where not too long ago i chose them to put my cat to sleep). Dr. Cohen ran tests on him and diagnosed him with kidney stones and needed to take them out immediately or would not make it through the night. We do not have pet insurance and prefer not to use credit cards, but offered a $500 down payment for a $2,000 operation. We could not get to a bank at 7 pm. They said no, and told us to go to ASPCA who also turned us away. also. We should have first went to Complete Care Veterinary Center on clove road because there was Dr. Sangiorgio...not only a unbelievable, professional, compassionate doctor, but a real angel on earth. He did not blink an eye and took Charley with our deposit and saved his life. Charley is home and doing fine, and Dr, Sangiorgio is paid in full on a handshake and his faith in people and love for his animals...he put his practice at risk but took it to save little Charley...we will never forget him and his staff. Bay st animal hospital and the ASPCA should look in the mirror today and think that maybe our little dog would be gone to today because of you..shame on you...all of you.
