terrible food!! Worst ever.:
My table ordered 3 entrees @ $15.99 , $16.99 and $19.99. Not one of us could get past the first bite. We sent all three back and was charged for the dinners anyway. Do yourself a favor and go to any other restaurant you cant do worse.

A true farm to table restaurant for hampton roads:
Cotton southern bistro is a celebration of all things southern/mid atlantic. Sourcing local ingredients, from a growing number of local independent farmers, Cotton is the real deal. With Jeff Brown(who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America) driving the restaurant, the atmosphere is very family like.Signature dishes include Fried green tomatoes, Shrimp & Grits, Meatloaf and hand made desserts, it is easy to see why locals are very excited about this restaurant.

The charm is gone:
Took my wife and my best friend and his lady to Cotton on May 24th, Friday "date night". Well, the only way to describe our experience is to say IT WAS A TOTAL BUST….. We arrived at 7:00 PM. Put our name on the waiting list and went to the bar. Reagan took great care of us with drinks. Well, we waited and waited for a table. Then I went to the front door to see where we were on the waiting list. The girl said she removed our name from the list because when they called our name from the “front door” no one answered. We had told them we would be at the bar. She said she went to the bar and didn't see us. REALLY.... There were only 9 people total in the bar area counting us. So she put our name on the list again. We waited and waited again. Reagan came by and said she would check on our table status. Reagan came back and said the girl had removed our name again because when she called us at the front door AGAIN we didn't answer. This girl has no clue. Well we ended up eating at the bar because we had movie tickets for a 9:20 PM movie and didn’t want to be late. The other person behind the bar took our orders. Well, to sum it up, we waited even longer for our food, even with Reagan trying to hurry our order up. When our food came, it was cold and my hamburger was way over cooked. My friend's hamburger was overcooked as well, really burned. Reagan said she was sorry and they were on a learning curve. I can understand that but I spent around $80 on food and drinks, received cold food, made to wait way too long, and on top of that we were late for our movie. Reagan said she was sorry several time but didn't offer anything in return to make up for the bad experience. Mr. Jeff Brown was nowhere to be seen while we were there. I am only giving this one star because you can't give a no star rating. Don't waste your time and money. THE CHARM IS GONE.....

I never write reviews:
I never write reviews but after hearing about Cotton via an article on Pilotonline.com I had to check it out. I am from SC and was excited to try some southern food. Let me say I am not a picky eater AT ALL!! I was super happy with my shrimp, (except after asking twice for cocktail sauce and never got it) but one of my side items came out cold and clammy after waiting almost 35 mins to get my food. Its made to order they say so I would be okay with that except the server when I pointed it out was almost mean. I asked for the MGR/owner and she said "You don't want to talk to him, he ticks off our customers more than makes them happy" WHAT?!?! my wife had the liver and onions also cold! Now I will say this, we took it to go and warmed it in the micro and the flavor was not bad. However the overall service was bad, really bad. from the hostess (if you want to call her that) to the server. I will not go back and am still upset about the treatment at Cotton. I will just go back home to SC for Southern food I guess.
