The Dunlay’s crew is behind this midpriced Lakeview American serving comfort-food favorites and rotisserie meats along with a compact wine list and family-friendly touches like an afternoon kids eat free program, stroller valet and takeout for groups; three squares and weekend brunch are served in homey digs with warm woodwork, leather booths, mason jar light fixtures and a seasonal outdoor patio.

For many of us, Dunlays is less of a destination than a better-than-average alternative when we can’t stand to wait any longer at Lula Café. It’s quite possibly a different game at this Southport spot from the same folks, where the culinary competition isn’t exactly fierce.
