Disgusting place:
My mother was in this facility for short term rehab. from a fall. She was expected to stay for approx. 3 weeks. We removed her from the facility after about 6 hours because of unacceptable service. Being elderly, she wet her sheet attempting to use a bed pan that was far too small shortly after her arrival. The PCA snapped at her that they did not have larger bed pans (my mother weighs less than 100 lbs.) when she inquired. The PCA jerked a sheet from under her causing her pain from the broken bone causing her to be there in the first place. Nobody would respond when she signaled for help. When I called to ask why, I was informed by the nurse's station that they were busy. They advertise a 7:3 ratio. She had bandages that the hospital left on because the facility was to remove them and inspect her injuries immediately upon arrival. When she left, the old bandages were tattered but still in place, one of them wet. The handbook states that a fresh pitcher of ice water would be supplied during each shift. She had a pitcher that was placed on her table when we arrived. When she was picked up, the pitcher had never been filled and no cups had been placed on the tray as promised. She called to tell me that she thought she had a high temperature and questioned whether she should be transferred back to the hospital. When we arrived to pick her up, the facility had switched off her air conditioner and she was in bed with no cover. She was unable to move so she definitely did not turn the unit off. The temperature in the room was so high that a family member was becoming ill from the heat. When we finally arrived at the vehicle, her gown was still wet hours later from the earlier accident. Nobody had helped her clean up or offered to assist her with a change of clothes. When called to inform them that family members were there to remove her from the facility. I was told that I needed to speak to her nurse. I was transferred incorrectly for times. On the fifth try, I got the correct person. Today, I have called every director listed and left a voice mail. My intent was to ensure that they were aware of the lack of service being provided by the staff. I have not received a single call back. Another resident that had been at the facility for a bit longer informed us that the staff was hateful and would not respond when called. She referred to the facility as a horrible place. Do not allow your loved ones to experience the same horror that my mother endured. Fortunately, we were able to retrieve her quickly.
