My trailer was broken ito twice:
We have been storing our 27' travel trailer with them for over a year. Since then, our trailer has bee broken into 2 times. Once in the summer and since Thanksgiving 2013. Both times resulting in out of pocket repairs and expenses from our losses. I mentioned to the office worker after the first break in and mentioned a lack of security around the perimeter. The only security, is a camera system that is watching the inside lot. Nothing watching the walls. The back wall (south) of the property has loose razor wire and barbed wire on top of the block wall. You can see where the breach is taking place. They are lifting up the loose wire and coming under it. There is also an area in the wall that has no wire at all. They can scale the wall in this area and get access to the lot with no threat of scratches or being seen on camera. This last break in that I found on 1/10/14, left us with more damage to my trailer. Broken window hinges, damages paneling and moldings and missing items from inside the trailer. After close inspection, I am missing a new 45w solar system and hub, cables still in the box, DVD surround system and speakers, new smoke alarm still in the box, & portable ice maker. They damaged the paneling and molding trying to push the slide out open to get to the bedroom of the trailer. All of this had happened after Thanksgiving 2013, as that is when I had brought it back to storage. When I told the management, they took pictures of the trailer and filled out a report. My wife called to talk to them when she came home from work and was told that if we would pay them $2000 per month they would guarantee our security. Not funny, and not a proper commit from anyone working for Smartstop and feeling the violation of our security. They said, that is the first time that has happened and no one has complained. I returned on 1/13/14 to look for missing parts from my trailer and notice the trailer next to me was also broken into. Their side window was swinging in the wind. I stopped at the office to let them know, but no one was there and it wasn't closing time, they were scheduled to close at 2:00 and I was there at 1:20. We were the only two trailers in that area. Security is lacking outside in the lot.
