Everyone was "gooey" nice:
I too tried Dr. Dehyar’s office after a bad experience with another dentist, and after reading the glowing online reviews.
I have now been to Dr. Dehyar for my initial consultation, and for a regular checkup. The initial consultation was great. Everyone was "gooey" nice to me. I was up front with him about my prior dentist trying to oversell me things that I did not need. He understood and I booked my next appt for when my benefits would cover the cleaning, which was about 5 months away. He concurred that I really had no major issues. One thing we did agree upon was that there was possibly a cavity brewing, so he sealed it in an effort to prevent further damage. It was fine the next visit, and I am hoping it remains fine! There was no pressure to have the sealer put on, it was offered, and I accepted.
I was advised at that time they wanted payment up front, so while it’s kind of inconvenient, it was my choice to continue with him, or to go to another dentist who takes my plan up front.
It would be nice for those who might be tight on cash to take the plan up front, but business is business, and they certainly do not hide this policy. I think people are so used to their benefits paying for everything up front, that it might come as a surprise if you do not pay attention.
The 2nd visit also went well. The desk staff is very nice and their waiting room, while cramped, is as nice as you can get for a center city office.
In any case, I have no intention of going anywhere else. Dr. Dehyar is a very nice guy, and if there were problems, I would trust his personal opinion and get my work done there. On another note, my insurance refunded my whole cost of the visit within a week, so no worries anymore about the reimbursement issue.
The Dentist has always been a pet peeve of mine, and while I do not care much for paying up front, and have zero interest in a night guard, I will continue to go to Dr. Dehyar’s office because I think he is a genuinely nice guy interested in keeping my teeth healthy and not gouging me for additional unneeded services.
Thanks Dr. Dehyar.

Superb Selection:
My family and I couldn't be happier as patients of Dr. Dehyar. As a sole practitioner there's no question that you will see Dr. Dehyar (rather than the newest member of the practice) and that he takes a personal interest in your care. The staff is small - Dr. Dehyar, one hygienist, one assistant, one receptionist - and it's clear that they genuinely enjoy one another and their patients. The small staff also means that you'll spend very little time waiting for your scheduled appointment.
Both Dr. Dehyar and the hygienist are very thorough, but very gentle. They explain what they're doing and why and will answer your questions thoughtfully and respectfully. They do their best to minimize any discomfort - whether with meds, the TV, or just a comforting chair-side manner. No feeling like you're in a closet or other tiny, cramped space.
One of the things I most appreciate is that no one in his office has ever tried to sell me anything. Previous dentists have recommended any number of cosmetic procedures (such as whitening). While Dr. Dehyar does provide cosmetic procedures, we have only discussed them on my initiative. He just doesn't push procedures that are not necessary for the patient's dental health.
I really appreciate the friendly, personalized care and attention we receive from Dr. Dehyar and his staff. There's just great karma in his office and his practice.
