I would rate it BELOW a 1 star. Just went there Wednesday night, July 19, 2006. The worse service I have ever NOT received. Our waiter - we had 8 in our party and of course the 18% gratuity was included, therefore he had NO REASON to provide us good service. Once we were seated, he arrived to get our drink order, (although we ALL had drinks in front of us, due to the 70 minute wait). He then stated, "I'll be right back" - another 20 minutes pass and he FINALLY returns, by now, it's close to 10:00pm! We ordered the sushi, salads, and steamed shrimp. Understand the salads take a long time to cook!! By 10:45 we had our meal. I ask for a to go box. The sushi looked like it was prepared by my 1 year old nephew. The steamed shrimp that one person ordered "was good". The cesar salad was acceptable. One person in our party had not received another drink until we were ready to go. To recommend this place would be a disgrace. I will never return to this terrible dump.

Note there are 2 Fishbones locations - a tiny one in a shopping complex on Scarborough Ln., and the larger waterfront location just up Rt 12 to the north. This is important because they both have the same menu, and you don't go there for the food - it's basic bar grub at best. At least on the waterfront, you can enjoy fantastic views incl. sunsets. We enjoyed hanging out at the bar on the back deck... and it's OK if you're trying to feed kids. But's that's it.

Average....too inconsistent to be considered upper echelon of the OBX restaurants. More of a bar than anything else.
