The Gillespie Golf Course is one of two golf facilities owned and operated by the City of Greensboro. The Gillespie Park area was named for Revolutionary War Colonel Daniel Gillespie (1743-1829), one of the city's founders. He fought for independence in the Battle of Alamance and Guilford Courthouse.
