What to Drink: Gramercy Tavern is one of the very few restaurants in New York to have a vintage beer program. They're concentrated, flat and very, very good.

Where to Sit: Try to eat in the front "tavern" room, which is more lively and relaxed and a truer reflection of the restaurant's spirit than the slightly stuffy main dining room.
