Description

We do one dish exceptionally well--prime rib.

House of Prime Rib sprawls over five rooms with comfy banquets, spacious tables, and fireplaces. There are two fresh fish dishes on the menu, but we have been known for fine prime rib since 1949.

Gift Certificates available by phone or in person.

It was well worth it!!!!!:
After a successful handling of a recent high ticket item installation at my house, I all of a sudden had extra money to blow and I must say that I am very happy camper having eaten at this restaurant.  I was looking for a special place to take my grandma and after much research, I figured this restaurant has that old school classy feel she'll be right at home at.

I read a lot of reviews on the internet, then took the plunge and made the reservation. And boy, it was well worth the money!

ATMOSPHERE:  At the front door, they have valets.  A good thing too since there's only very sparse street parking.  When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised with the dark wood decor.  My grandma was smiling and the world is good.

FOOD:  WOW, I say wow!!!  Well, first we had their signature salad.  Our waiter did all the pageantry that you won't find at most restaurants any longer.  Had us hand-select our cold salad forks, he was spinning that salad bowl and pouring the dressing on top from 2 feet above.  It was a show!

Then came the prime rib.  Oh the King Henrys were several inches thick of prime meat goodness.  The meat was perfectly aged, buttery, soft, simply spectacular.  The very best prime rib I ever had, and my grandma totally agreed too, and she HAS eaten a lot of prime rib in her heyday, according to her :)

By the time we were done with our entree which also included: creamed spinach, 2 kinds of horseradish, Yorkshire pudding, and perfectly creamy, buttery, mashed potatoes, we had no room for dessert.  A shame too since the menu sounded really good on that too.

All in all, I would definitely go again, just because of the prime rib!  It was life changing experience! The rest was just a bonus.

My grandma and I have made a pact to go here at least once a year, at least until I stop renovating my house for a while, then hopefully more.

I'll say it again, IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!!!!!

Old school dark atmosphere dominates this windowless room that feels like a relic of the 1950s. But if you are on the hunt for decent prime rib, you'll be pleased. You get the works here, from the icy salad dressed at the table to the… Read More

House of Prime Rib Restaurant Review:
Dark English-style old-school atmosphere, enhanced with fireplaces, dominates this longtime San Francisco restaurant that pleases those on the hunt for decent prime rib. A meal includes the works: a salad bowl of seasonal greens tossed with house dressing at the table; mashed potatoes with brown gravy or a baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives; Yorkshire pudding; creamed spinach; and...
