Worse Dentist Office I have ever been to Not Sanitary!:
I Had an appointment today to get my initial exam and teeth cleaning first time I ever came to this place, let's put it this way wasn't a great experience!
Started off being brought back to the exam room and noticing that the room they put me in was not sanitized, the chair had not been cleaned there was dirt on the bottom of the leg part where your feet go. And to top it off there was not a protector for the chair which extremely grossed me out and me being a germ freak didn't go well with me.
Then the dentist pretty much cut corners when it came to cleaning my teeth hardly spent anytime getting tartar off my teeth, and then she passed me onto an assistant that was supposed to be a dental hygienist or maybe a receptionist or a x-ray tech?
Then the dentist tells me I have a cavity and it's very small but needs to be done.
Who knows whatever the case is I felt extremely uncomfortable and felt dirty when I left their office.
This is a very unsanitary practice and would not recommend this to my family or friends or better yet my dogs!

If you are a millionaire then this is your practice!!:
Absolutely ridiculous price for what..three damn teeth that did not even require root canals?? the hell with them, they set me back $2000 even though im just a college student!!! They can care less after all they are soo upscale and sophisticated and they are located in the heart of america's best neighborhood!! Please!! I went to another doctor on the west side of phoenix and just because his practice is not up north with a nice location he only charged me $300!!!! For the same damn thing!! He was just as qualified as the doctor whose wallet i made fatter!! All they care about is that they squeeze every penny out of your pocket and thats it!! I will never do business with them again!!
Do yourself a favor and shop around!! Go online and look for a well qualified doctor that does not cater to ceo's and billionaires!! I spent with the doctor less than 30 minutes and it set me back $2000!!! I am sooo frustrated now because i am stuck paying the damn carecredit/scam card that they offer whose zero interests rate suddenly increase even though they are not supposed to!!!
Beware!! Use the advice i am giving you and look around!! They are not all that good!! Mediocre service for the price of a i dont know what! Shame on them!!

Worst dental practice ever:
I moved to Phoenix a few years ago and hadn't been to the dentist for a cleaning in a year and a half. I started to get sensitive teeth so I went into Markeplace Smiles for an initial visit - just in case I had any major problems developing. They took full mouth x-rays without checking if it was too soon (it was). They didn't even ask who my previous dentist was. Dr Melde did the exam but didn't explain what he found. He sent in a "treatment coordinator" who did a hard sell on a Lava crown for a tooth halfway back in my mouth. You can't even see it when I smile.

I had been sitting in the exam chair reclined for over an hour at that point. I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't read the document. She went on and on about how great the Lava crown would be. She made some passing reference to other options. She was selling hard. She must get a commission. She had me sign an electronic signature pad to agree to the treatment. I was still reclined, intimidated and couldn't read the paperwork. I signed and assumed that my great coverage would be enough. I was wrong. I paid $525. My insurances paid another $825. The dentist received $1350 for a crown prep and premium ceramic crown. I've never paid more than $700 before and my insurance always covered it. I later learned that I've been getting generic PFG procelain fused to gold crowns. They have been perfectly fine and it's all that I wanted.

After I was coerced to buy the Lava crown, the dentist sailed back in and did the crown prep. I still don't know why I needed that crown right away. He found several cavities but wasn't going to work on any of them yet because I needed deep perio cleaning first. He didn't describe a full treatment plan at all. Just said the only thing he could do that day was put a crown on a tooth.

I came back for my perio deep cleaning a month later in March 2008. This time they made me pay $980 before treatment based on their analysis of my coverage. The perio treatment totalled $2000 retail or $1380 at the negotiated dental insurance rate. They thought my insurances would only pay $400. But the two insurance companies paid another $1050. Marketplace Smiles received more than the full retail price and never offered a refund or a credit. They collected $640 more than the negotiated rates.

I waited for a statement of account to see the credit on my account. Then I got sick and didn't followup on it for another 6 months. I am now trying to resolve the issue with their office. I have now learned a couple more questionable practices.

They do not issues statements of account. They insist on collecting a substantial portion of what they estimate as the patient's portion and then anything else they can get from insurance is theirs to keep. Since they overestimate the patient's portion, they are very well paid for their services.

They do not get pre-treatment estimates or authorizations from the insurance company. They do warn you that the insurance plans won't give them any guaranties about what will be paid when they make a telephone call to verify coverage. And of course, the patient will be 100% liable if the insurance company doesn't pay. But since Marketplace Smiles doesn't take a full dental history and doesn't request the file from your previous dentist, they don't know when work has been done an any given tooth and if it is eligible for a additional work yet. My latest treatment plan includes replacing a crown that I think was done only 3 years ago.

Apparently they do not give any kind of terms. I overheard one half of a phone conversation while sitting in the exam chair recently. The woman at the desk was refusing pain meds to someone who had been in earlier in the day. Evidently he left the building without paying the patient portion. And the only way he was getting pain meds was to come back into the office and pay $600 toward his treatment. I don't really know the full story here but I was very turned off that the office was so insensitive to the client as a person in pain. And I don't understand why the dentist didn't provide a pain med prescription before he left the office. It seems to only be about money with them.

I'm still undecided about quality of service. I have been into their office about 6 times now. Whenever I've had to interact with a dentist for an exam or dental work, I have spent more than 2 hours in the chair. The office workers seem to seriously overschedule the dentist.

And they don't use highly skilled dental assistants to carry the overscheduled dentist. I've had a couple of young assistants who are new to the English language.

Just say "UP SALE" they try to get all your money and insurance money:
They made my entire family disgusted about theire teeth evn though we had been going to the dentist in another stay on a regular basis, withour any problems. Then suddenly we move to AZ and go to the "Market" and understand we all need about $8000.00 in work and then start offering proclein veneers another 20k..Are they crazy..They got us for about 1500.00 although after I spoke to my insurance co. I should had only pd. appox. 40% since "the Market" did submit all paper work and then attempted to bill them twice..What a joke..and the receptionist what a fake..just sign your life and get dentures for a few grand..THEY SUCK!!!
