Pilates is a great way to get/stay in shape and eliminate back pain.:
I began visiting Sue in January of 2012 because of chronic low back pain - diagnosis, stenosis and spondylisthesis (L4-L5). I go twice a week faithfully because I have much less pain since I began working with Sue. My core strength has improved dramatically and I experienced a 10 lb weight loss without dieting. Sue listened to me when I told her that often after a session, my leg pain increased and adjusted the routines to avoid any exercises that might aggravate the spondylisthesis such as back extension. She also consulted with the resident chiropractor and her original Pilates instructor. I love the time I spend with Sue. It doesn’t feel like exercise (even though it definitely is), but like a visit with a supportive, encouraging friend. She constantly changes up the routine to challenge me and keep me from getting bored. I will continue. The time and effort is definitely worth it.
