Called them back in 08 to pick up a Subaru I had to get rid of. gave them year make & model over phone. even VIN# so I could get an accurate price. Before they "wasted their time" sending a wrecker to pick-up said vehicle. They quoted me $400 - $600 for scrap (even though it was a running car after they radiator was repaired. just didn't have the money at the time) when the tow truck showed up he handed me $50 and expected to drive off with this car. After 2 hours of waiting for "his boss" to call him back he then up'ed his grand offer to $150.
Finally I was so
[email protected]!%!d off and fed up I said just take the damn thing and the word of mouth will be your reward. Scam artists :(
later I found out it was worth ~$200 in copper/wiring $400 in light iron another ~$50 in aluminium and the catalytic converter should have gotten me ~$300 alone. Would I had known this at the time I would have sent that tow truck on his way when he offered $50. A mechanic I have become friends with since then said they most likely parted it out and made 4k+ I guess 98 Imprezza's are popular in AUS. He also said the driver might have pocketed the difference, but after 2 hours his boss most likely knew what was going on.
Well I hope this evens us out for my lost $250 Ray. Good day.
