Didn't Finish the Job; Took the Money and Ran:
I definitely do NOT recommend this guy and strongly advise others from using his so-called tree service. He was actually recommended to me by a friend (who has already apologized!), so when he showed up in a beat-up truck and a flat bed with no notations of his service/business, I let it slide. The only reason we needed a tree service was because a few branches eventually grew in front of our satellite dish and we needed them pruned. He said he understood this when he was at the house and talked us into a bunch of other things, which is fine. Here’s where it went downhill.

First, he never provided me a copy of the estimate. Nevertheless, he showed up the next day, cut down a couple trees that we agreed to have him do, and he pruned a tree over the house (which we didn’t ask him to do). From the ground, it looked okay, so I paid him in cash. Another RED FLAG: He didn’t give me a receipt.

Later that night, we went to watch TV and guess what? We realized he cut about every branch possible EXCEPT the one that needed taken down—which, again, is the only reason we hired him. I immediately called, and he said he’d be back out the next day (Friday) if he could or Monday at the latest. I said I’d really appreciate him being there immediately the next day, since we paid him for a job he didn’t complete. I didn’t think this was a problem, since earlier that evening, he said he’d come back tomorrow (Friday) to work on some more of our trees if we wanted to pony more cash up. So, he had time—he just chose not to come back out.

Guess what? Monday came and went. I left multiple messages from my cell phone, all of which went unanswered. The next day (Tuesday), I called him from my work phone, and as I was leaving a message, I saw on the phone’s caller ID that he was calling back. I couldn’t switch the lines over in time to catch him. Once he got to my work voicemail, he, of course, did NOT leave a message.

When I got home Tuesday, we called from another phone number and he picked up, thinking we were a new sucker…er…I mean, customer. I proceeded to ask why he has yet to show up and finish the job. After he had already admitted on Thursday that he missed the right branches and would come back out, he now said that he did the job we asked. I told him that if he didn’t come out to finish the job, I would be letting the world know not to use or trust him, calling the Better Business Bureau, billing him for the time I’ve paid for satellite TV I could not receive, and talking to my attorney. Long story short, he told me I could “take that f---ing tree and shove it up my f---ing a--!” and hung up on me.

BEWARE of this guy! The service that is completing the trimming knows of him and had some choice words, including that he’s basically a guy with a truck and a chainsaw who knows how to fall a tree—otherwise, he’s clueless and not a “tree service” by any stretch. He also mentioned that he’s been noted for his dishonest practices by local authorities and apologized that people like Rick ruin the image of the entire local industry.

I strongly recommend using ANY other service!
