Bought a new Currie Izip E3 Zuma at Ride On Sports recently (May 2013), as I did not want to purchase one on line. You know, dealer support and all that.
I thought I was going to get a 2013 model but its not that simple and is somewhat confusing. So bear with me. The bike I purchased SN on the frame clearly indicates a -12- in it, and so I asked Currie to explain the discrepancy. What I was told, according to them, is that my bike was assembled in December of 2012. They further said that models for the next year start production in September of the previous year. So my bike is a 2013 model but assembled in December of 2012. Hence the SN shows when the model was put together, not what model year it is. In my opinion, a very dumb thing to do.
Shop didn't to fill tires to correct pressure ( both under inflated at 33PSI, 50 PSI specified), front wheel wobbles and is out of true at one spot, and the Shimano shifter is out of tune and very hard to turn. Yes, all these are fixable but yet when you sink over $2000 on a bike, you'd think it would be delivered in tip top shape. No such luck. I'm sure that the shop if contacted would be more than happy to fix these issues for free. Still, it should've been done prior to delivery and it does bother me that it wasn't. Maybe they were too busy or forgot all about it...
Anyhow, it's a long hike for me to travel to store (over 200 miles round trip), and so I'll take care of these issues myself. And yes, owner (David) was a bit rude on the phone one time, though he did apologize (maybe he just had a bad day like we all do). Overall, he seems like a nice and helpfull person.
Anyway, that has been my experience so far. Stay tuned... BTW, I'll be more than happy to share my experiences with this bike. If so inclined, write me at
[email protected], and I'll try to answer your questions.
Update: Talked with David (owner) about the issues I have. He said he's more than happy to fix all problems. He also said he would do it while I waited so that I would not incurr an additiona road trip to pick up bike another day. That was nice of him. So I've changed my rating from 3 stars to four stars.
