In the space occupied by the Persian Room for 40-plus years at the famed Plaza Hotel, a new club that hopes to be a destination for models and bottles.

The Rose Club was formerly known as the Persian Room, which for 40 years played host to jazz legends Duke Ellington and Billie Holliday, as well as top-notch entertainers like Bob Hope and Liza Minnelli.

From the parquet floors to the lavender lighting, the Plaza Hotel’s walnut-paneled mezzanine lounge exudes “classic” traditional “appeal” from a balcony perch above the lobby; with “friendly” mixologists stirring high-priced pops, it’s an “enjoyable” place to “not be seen”, though sometimes it gets “more lively than you’d expect.”

Overlooking the pretty Fifth Avenue Lobby of the Plaza Hotel, the Rose Club is one of the most elegant places to sip a cocktail in New York. Champagne, single malts, and martinis are the right choices here, though there's also the $10 bottle of Bud and $150 glass of Nolet's Reserve gin (we drank two). The Rose Club menu features an array of signature cocktails and a select epicurean menu to satisfy the tastes of those wishing to indulge in light gourmet.
