Shojin

Japanese: Shojin offers a quaint Japanese experience with a vegan spin. Located in a lackluster asian shopping mall, the restaurant features surprisingly cozy decor and warm service. The menu caters to a vegetarian customer with a wide selection of sushi and fusion options. Despite its limited vegetarian cuisine, the food is decidedly delicious.

Opened in 2008, Shojin has attracted a cult following among vegan foodies and Japanophiles alike for its fantastic (and healthy) fare. Appetizers run the gamut from spicy shiitake tempura to a zesty French onion soup. Entrees are bursting with flavor, like the spicy kung pao seitan. But what the hidden 3rd floor gem might be best-known for is its outstanding vegan desert selection (check the spiced pumpkin tart and specials, too). Located inside the Little Tokyo Square mall on the third floor near Honda-Ya (Suite 310).

This is a completely vegan Japanese restaurant. It's pretty unknown, even in the vegan world. So good, you can get rolls reminiscent of some of your non vegan favorites.

I'm not one to seek out vegan food, but if you're in the mood for vegan Shojin has you covered! Tasty and healthy Japanese fare. Food so good you won't miss the meat.
