For a rebuttal statement regarding this posting.The customer's kitchen faucet was a Kohler pull out spray spout in black. My technician turned off the shutoffs under the kitchen sink and proceeded to try and repair the kitchen faucet. This could not be done due to so much corrosion and just plain worn out.The faucet literally had to be cut off to remove. The customer requested a new black Kohler faucet the same a existing faucet.So my technician went to our Kohler distributor ( Not hardware store) to try and purchase the faucet,which due to the color and style was not in stock. And also not available at our other Kohler distributor it had to be ordered,which the customer said was fine.We also had to clear a lavatory drain for the customer,total time on job 2 1/4 hrs.with the customer right there the whole time. 3 hrs after leaving the customers home we received a call that water was spraying out from under the sink area. We immediately sent the technician back to customers residence. We found due to the amount of corrosion from the water the rubber in the shut off valve itself had blown out. We then shut off the main water and replaced shut off and assisted the customer in cleaning up the water. Also called water restoration company to assist the customer. To make a long story short my technician took photo's to document the faulty shut off and severity of the faucet.We were contacted by the customers insurance company and we provided documentation and photos. Paul J Sommerdyke Plumbing was cleared of any wrong doing. But because we felt bad for the customer we deducted an 1 1/2 hrs. from their bill and charged nothing for the time to help clean up the water. After this whole problem, customer had us back to install his new black faucet and did not at any time mention he was upset about the previous situation.
