Great Work:
Stu Lund has worked on my house a few different times. I love the work he has done in my kitchen that I now can work in there. He has done work in our bathroom and then did a handrail on our stairs. His work is worth the while because it is done with mastery! I will call on him when we need the rest of our house updated.

I regret hiring this contractor!:
I contracted Stu Lund & Son in the fall of 2006 to remove and install new siding, trim and shutters on my house, garage and shed. Their attitude was great at first. That quickly dissipated as the job progressed and there were several days where Son was a no-show which left his father working alone. I offered my assistance to Mr. Lund for anything he might need. I inspected their work for quality, fit and finish daily and would bring the problems I wanted corrected to their attention. This is when I began to notice an irritated attitude of having to rework things which should have been done correctly the first time.

During this job, I was remodeling a forty nine square foot addition. I had gutted this room and installed a new subfloor along with finished oak flooring. Since I don’t know much about drywall or doorway carpentry, Mr. Lund agreed to also finish those areas as well.
Upon job completion, I noted a few items that still needed attention. I paid Mr. Lund in full and he agreed to fix those discrepancies after another job he had to do. Mr. Lund never came back nor would he return my phone calls.
I have since noticed lengths of siding that were barely long enough to go under the corner posts; aluminum trim pieces that were inconsistently fabricated and vinyl trim that has either fallen off or come lose because it was not nailed securely or at all. There were obvious overcuts in both the siding and trim work when fitting to corners, windows and soffit. Caulking was sloppy and careless wherever it was utilized. The shutters were installed with inconsistency as to shutter plug location. Measurements were written on the siding and never removed. For several months I picked up nails that had been dropped around the work areas.
As for the addition, I found areas on the floor which were indications of drywall screws that had been dropped and stepped on. Apparently, the protective rugs I laid down were removed with little regard or care for the new hardwood flooring I had just installed. The walls showed pitting where they were not properly finished and the doorway entrance jam, which is about a foot wide, was finished using a warped board.
I made the mistake of paying Stu Lund & Son in full before they addressed the problems I had noticed right away. Once his attitude became an issue, I should have stopped the job and hired someone else. To this day, he has yet to return my calls or stand behind his work which obviously lacks in both quality and attention to detail.
