Order your upcoming picnic with or without the ants at picnic house, where diners can enjoy a menu of delicious and portable dishes in-house or on-the-go. Long-time Portlanders will remember the cavernous space that houses Picnic House as a original Macheesmo Mouse eatery, an early adopter of the fast, fresh, healthy model. That mantra is still in place today with sandwiches (try the citrus poached shrimp), hearty salads and some sharable small plates such as an onion tart with gorgonzola. You can even order a picnic online and take it to your favorite park.
Your sweet tooth will never forget this strange & delightful downtown hideaway's absolutely enormous pavlova smothered in creme anglaise, whipped cream, fresh peaches, raspberries & mint. Also, if you're a soup lover--order them all. They're that good.
A new fav of mine. Tucked away on a street that is filled with indistinguishable doorways. You enter what used to be the Heathman Hotel's lobby. The beautiful old woodwork and tile floor still remain, hundreds of printing plates have been used to add even more color and character to this space. Nostalgic music plays in the background. The menu is filled with old Portland history.
