Do not take your animals to Woodland Vet in Denbigh!:
Do not take your animals to Woodland Vet in Denbigh! I don’t say that lightly. We have been taking our cats there since 2002. I loved the staff and doctor there. The new doctor however leaves much to be desired.
Long story short, in October of 2016, we took our 7 year old cat Midnight to be seen because he wasn’t using the litter box. He was throwing up and dehydrated. The doctor saw him gave him fluids and nausea medicine. Lab work was done. She informed us that she didn’t know why he wasn’t pooping but that he didn’t have a virus or infection. We gave him the medicine but he didn’t get better. We took him back again after his abdomen began to swell on January 28, 2017. Another lab test was done and he was sent home. Doctor Amor stated that his lab work came back clean except Midnight was losing blood. She didn’t know from where. She said he needed an ultrasound but that wasn’t something I had to do that day. She said she couldn’t tell what was going on because there was too much fluid in his abdomen. She also didn’t know why he wasn’t consistently able to poop.
Monday, the day after my baby Chloe passed, Terrence had to take Midnight to an emergency vet. Within 10 minutes of Dr. Stiff checking him, he stated that he believed he had cancer. It was also one of the reasons he couldn’t use the litter box because the masses were in the way. Midnight was dehydrated again and emaciated. An x-ray was done to locate the masses. He was kept overnight to try to drain some of the fluid from his abdomen and remove feces from his colon.
I called Woodland Vet this morning to voice my displeasure and an assistant called me back instead of Dr. Amor. I told her what happened and that I would prefer to speak with the Dr. directly. Dr. Amor called me back but was extremely dismissive. She told me that the most important thing was Midnight was getting treated. She also stated that I should just tell her what I want her to say because she wasn’t in the habit of defending her care for pets because she cares for each of them deeply. I told her that I wasn’t looking for her to defend it just to act like she gave a damn about my phone call. She just repeated “… habit of defending her care”.
I trusted Woodland Vet for years but it’s obvious that Dr. Amor isn’t as skilled or concerned as she needs to be. If you go there please keep an eye on your animals and get a second opinion. Yes we’ve had to spend double to get one answer but it’s not about the money. I expect the same level of care for my animals as I expect for myself. If you are going into this field you should want to be there and do your job to the fullest. I will never take another pet to this vet again.
