29 Diner

The 29 Diner opened in 1947 and is a feature on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of the longstanding diners that survived several odds and is still in operation under the same name. This 1940s diner has a nostalgic design and its menu includes American classics like salads, sandwiches, steak and seafood.

It's one of Virginia's oldest diners and it still retains the air of its earliest days in terms of décor. Seating no more than 40 people, 29 Diner is a relic from pre-fast-food-joint America, when people would flock here (or to places like it) to listen to the jukebox and down such basic eats as burgers and fries, grilled ham steak and home-style desserts.
