My daughter has gone to High Step for about 5 years. In the past year and a half we have had some really bad experiences with this studio. We tried to work it out with the owner and have been unsuccessful in doing so. They do have a couple of good teachers but also have many that are inexperienced teenagers that have no formal training as instructors. Just because you have danced does not make you a good teacher of dance. We have had multiple teachers come and go throughout the year because of conflicts with the owner and every time a new person steps in, it is like starting all over with the class.I have found that there is a definite lack of communication. It doesn't seem like anyone ever knows what is going on until the last minute and it is really disorganized. On many occasions the students are told to be somewhere for an event and the owner has been late herself leaving everyone with a sense of disarray. I really feel like she is in the business for the wrong reasons. I feel as though she is in it for the paycheck more so than for the kids or the love of dance. She does not invest in the things that would make it better for her students such as teachers with experience or time for a connection with the child.
I believe that there are many students that stay here more for the connection with the friends that they have made and not for what they are getting from High Step. They do have some really good dancers but so do a lot of other places.
I personally would recommend checking your other options before entering in a "contract" with this studio.
